The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

When I first got the book I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it. I don't like sci-fi, it sounds violent, really not the kind of book I would read, but I read it anyway and I loved it.

Katniss lives in a futuristic world ruled by an evil government, every year to remind the citizens of their complete lack of power, the government holds the Hunger Games. It's when the government chooses one boy and one girl from each of the 12 districts and they fight until there's one victor left. Katniss ends up being the girl tribute for her district and that's where the adventure begins. She meets new people, tastes delicious delicacies, makes friends, fights, gets hurt, kisses, lies and so much more. Katniss is not the only main character, there's Peeta, her fellow tribute who's been hiding something from her since they were five and can make some mean bread, Haymitch, her always drunk mentor, Effie, her always peppy Capitol escort and so many other interesting characters.

This book is really one of a kind, there's action, romance, betrayal, deception, it's got everything. 9 out of 10!
